Comments that don't warrant a thread |
| Posted by 909 - 07-23-08 15:17 - 449 comments |
|
I'm starting this now. We'll keep it going until the end of August. http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?showtopic=91483Reference my posts made in that linked thread for what does and doesn't warrant a thread. I'm going to moderate this much more tightly, so if I see something I think warrants a thread, I'm going to pull it out. You don't like it, oh well, I guess. If you want to talk about it, and not incessantly bitch, take it to the thread up top. If you want to bitch, send me a PM and we'll bitch about it. Pick up where you left off.

WWE Folder Rules & Guidelines v. 2.0 |
| Posted by Cheech Tremendous - 03-28-08 12:33 - 0 comments |
|
Newest additions are in italics.
Making New Threads
Ideally, with the traffic this forum receives, we should see 2-3 new threads per day. However, we need to keep a few things in mind when starting new threads, lest the forum be cluttered with unnecessary topics.
1 - Has it been posted before, or would it be better suited for an existing thread? Do a scan of at least the first page of the forum, to ensure it hasn't been posted before. Updates on prior news probably doesn't need a new thread, except in exceptional circumstances. Use common sense.
2 - Is it really threadworthy? Run of the mill comments or news do not need their own thread. Try using the Random Thoughts thread for random thoughts. Use the News You Can Barely Use thread for news you can barely use.
3 - Is it relevant? There is a General Wrestling folder on the board for non-WWE items. This folder is also used for fantasy booking and topics that are older than five years. If you want to discuss something that happened more than five years ago, make sure it has relevance to today's WWE.
4 - Try and give an opinion when posting news items. This isn't WO.com. We aren't here for groundbrearking journalism. The idea behind the forums is DISCUSSION.
Posting
I can't believe this next rule still needs to be included, but it seems that it does.
1 - Everyone is entitled to their opinion. There is no right and wrong when it comes to professional wrestling. Give them the opportunity to explain their point of view, then refute it if necessary.
2 - Back things up. If you say Cena isn't a draw, back that up with some numbers. If you think Shawn Michaels sucks, tell us why. We don't want to read inane comments without justification.
3 - When posting news items or editorials from other websites, cite your sources.
4 - No direct copying and pasting of any copyrighted material. This includes newsletters, audio updates, shoot interviews or anything else. Paraphrasing is fine, but absolutely no copying and pasting.
Trolling & Flamebaiting
The following will not be acceptable:
1- Insulting someone directly because of their opinion. Period. Arguments will get heated, but that is not justification for attacking other posters. If you have a problem with another poster, take it Don Dokken's Chocolate Socket.
2. Racism. Don't do it.
On breaking a guideline
If you believe that someone has broken a rule, please do one, or both of the following:
1 - Quote the relevant rule to them. Don't be sarcastic or rude, don't flame, and don't dwell on it. Tell them, and move on.
2 - Send a PM to one of the many (usually) moderators that are reading the forum. We ditched the report button, because unfortunately, people abused it.
Remember this is a message board and we are here to have fun. The rules exist to make sure everyone plays fair.
The moderators are here to make sure things runs smoothly. If you have problems with the forums, or suggestions for improvements, please send a PM or post your concerns in the Site Feedback located towards the lower part of the board.

QUOTE After the short Extreme Title match between ECW Champ Mark Henry and Matt Hardy resulted in a disqualification at SummerSlam, the World’s Strongest Man remains the World’s Strongest Champion, at least until Tuesday. ECW General Manager Theodore Long announced on WWE.com that the SummerSlam competitors will face off once again for the gold on ECW on Sci Fi this week. (WATCH) Will Henry retain the ECW Championship or will Hardy become the next to hold Extreme gold? Read more on this story…
Armando Estrada finally earned his place in the Land of the Extreme, but lost his first match as a contracted ECW Superstar to Finlay. Will Estrada be able to regain the momentum he once had on ECW? A scowling Mike Knox looked on as Finlay defeated Estrada. Now that Knox sees that the man who loves to fight hasn’t gone soft thanks to his relationship with his son, Hornswoggle, will he continue to express his disdain for Finlay like he’s been for the past few weeks? Will the sinister Knox and Finlay ever bring their rivalry into the ECW ring?
Finally, Evan Bourne’s winning ways over Bam Neely continued, when Chavo Guerrero ordered his bodyguard – still injured with a concussion after last week’s attack by Edge on SmackDown – to compete against the quick-thinking, unpredictable Bourne. Who will be able to stop the high-flying, odds-beating Superstar who came to ECW as part of General Manager Theodore Long’s New Superstar Initiative? Will Neely & Guerrero back down from the seemingly unbeatable newcomer?
Another new ECW Superstar, Ricky Ortiz, remains undefeated on ECW with a 3-0 record. While trying to convince Long he’s going to take over the WWE Universe with his merchandising ideas, Long informed Ortiz that ECW's New Superstar Initiative is in full effect, and he’ll have another match on next week’s ECW on Sci Fi, this time against a new Extreme Superstar. Who will Ortiz meet in the ring and will he be able to stop this newcomer? (WATCH)
Find out the answers to these questions and more by tuning into ECW on Sci Fi, Tuesday at 10/9 CT.

QUOTE In a first time meeting between two of Raw’s biggest Superstars, Batista was able to prove himself the better man by defeating John Cena at SummerSlam. Now that Batista has won, will he refocus on winning the World Heavyweight Title? Also, how will Cena cope with being beaten by The Animal?
Ever since winning the World Heavyweight Title, CM Punk has had to hear JBL doubt his worth as champion, even after he had already successfully defended his gold against the self-proclaimed “wrestling god.” The Straightedge Superstar followed up an insulting drinking contest offer from JBL on Raw by besting him once again in the ring at SummerSlam to retain his championship. Will JBL now give Punk credit where credit is due? And who will be next to step up to vie for CM Punk’s World Heavyweight Title?
Thanks to the incredible strength of Beth Phoenix, Santino Marella and The Glamazon won their Winners Take All Match making them the new Intercontinental and Women’s Champions. Now that “Glamarella” has proven their relationship to be a golden alliance, where it will lead to next? Will either of the former champions in Kofi Kingston and Mickie James come looking to take their titles back?
Also, last week on Raw, as per Raw GM Mike Adamle’s demands, Kane revealed that the burlap sack he carried around contained the mask of Rey Mysterio. Afterward, Kane just laughed in the face of Adamle before walking to the back. What did Kane mean by someone “scarred and tortured”? Has the Master of the 619 been victimized by the Big Red Monster?
For the answers to these questions and more, be sure to tune into Monday Night Raw at 9/8 CT only on USA Network.
